My Story

mary4Mary Candice Shindler supports brave leaders and innovative executives who care deeply about the world to be who they really are and make their biggest impact – while leading a life they truly love.

Mary is the daughter of two entrepreneur parents. She grew up in the small, charming town of Charlottesville, Virginia, where she was homeschooled until college. In her youth, she vigorously pursued theater, acting, music and dance – and performed her first solo choreography when she was 11 years old. Mary graduated with a B.A. in Philosophy/Pre-Law from James Madison University. She got into environmental activism on campus, which led to her work in the youth climate movement, and eventually to coaching as a tool to support leaders to thrive.

Since then, Mary has devoted the past decade to providing pathways for changemakers, c-level executives, entrepreneurs, and nonprofit professionals to develop the leadership capacity needed to create the change they want to see in the world.

Mary started her first business at age 24. She has founded many nonprofits including Young Women’s Leadership leading programs in Bali, Indonesia and California, the first Sierra Club youth delegation to the United Nations Climate Negotiations in 2009, a youth green entrepreneurship incubator in Oakland, and Coaching for Social Change, a national organization which has trained hundreds of leaders across the country. Before that, she served as the Managing Director of Dancing Freedom for 4 years.
